Frankie Staton, President of the Black Country Music Association kicks off the 17 June 1999 "Shades of Country" Show at the Gibson Guitar Cafe in Nashville, Tennessee. The Black Country Music Association was created by Frankie Staton and Cleve Francis around 1996 to provide an official forum for African Americans to pursue a country music career.
